My first Sparrowhawk sighting on the patch was a beauty, again, a glance out the back window to this.

Male Sparrowhawk at breakfast

Couldn't believe it and these are NOT great shots, I was trying to stay hidden while only a few yards away and through a window.
Look at that stare, those eyes, slightly burred, I know.
I did have the nouse to video it.
That was it for 2022, not a frequent sight or, I just don't see them. I did catch one on top of a Great Spotted Woodpecker in the front garden and both flew off squawking luckily.
However, in 2023, we had a visit from a female.
We have two Budgies in a cage near a big window and there was a heck of a commotion on August 23rd just after 9 o'clock in the evening.
It was obvious that something was scaring them, we had the curtains closed to stop the sun glare on the TV.
Remember the sun?
Anyway .... I crept up to the curtains with my phone on camera.
A beautiful female obviously confused by the window, it kept hopping to and fro on the lounger then up onto the gutter.
Isn't she a beauty?
SO the Sparrowhawk story up here is limited but close encounters each time so far.
