I don't just look for and photograph birds, there's loads of other interesting nature to discover.
June 6th 2024, walking round the loop to the ponds, I spotted, none intended, this dragonfly settling on the tall grasses. I had a camera in hand but with a long lens attached so had to act quickly but keep my distance to allow the camera to focus on it. Once home, I had a look at the shots, added one to iNaturalist and discovered it was a Four-spotted Chaser, I've not seen one of these in this area before which doesn't mean it's new here, I just hadn't seen one. I got five shots before it flew off over the grasses and was lost to me. Another time maybe, now that I know where I might see them.
