It's that time of year again, when the plague of Starlings arrives and hoovers up every scrap of food put out and more.
May 29th, Starlings were the first young birds I saw this year, I may have missed some others, of course but, there they were, taking a seat at the garden table.
TheĀ StarlingsĀ started to arrive in force from here on.

Feed me NOWWWWW!

What am i supposed to do with this mum?

There's constant demand from these youngsters they're noisy and messy but so much fun to watch.

Where'd she go?

As you can see, they turn up in droves but luckily, they move on pretty quickly.
The poor parents are hassled from morning until night but the young learn to self feed fairly quickly.
The youngster above looked so lost when the adult left!

Shovelling it in

Radio controlled?

They land on each other, squabble, fight, make a racket and generally bring chaos for a few weeks, then gone! We had a few hot days and they soon discovered the bird bath.
For some, it was just another perch, for others, a cooling bath.
They were also highly entertaining while they visited.
As soon as they're mostly self-sufficient, they're off., the adults take them off out into the real world and they learn to fend for themselves. It won't be long before they start to transform from the pretty dull coloured juveniles into multi-coloured adults.
I took the first shot on May 29th, the last on June 14th!
Many think of them as pests and they certainly can be but, they are beautiful birds ..... in the right light ;)
