And so to April, one year in our new home and absolutely loving it, it has taken a bit of getting used to, very rural, the nearest town / shops 3 miles down the lane then narrow country roads but SO worth it all.

I've probably said it before but one encouraging thing we see here is lots of Greenfinches, which are becoming rarer all over the country.

Starlings come in most days for a quick check around, in case they miss anything, they're like locusts at a feeding frenzy when there's something they like.

Jackdaws visit most mornings, usually in twilight, they really don't like us humans, such clever birds, all the Corvids are, great to watch.

If the Jackdaws or any others land, I try to get shots of them but they don't stand still much
I absolutely love the Tree Sparrows, they're not always out where I can see them but they do drop by regularly.
That tree outside my window, an Ash tree, has some branches hanging that are perfect for grabbing shots.

Blackbirds are another bird that can be difficult to get good shots of, they never stop for long, the females are often mistaken for Thrushes.

I probably mentioned that now and again something different drops by and the Mistle Thrush was a really pleasant surprise, they're usually very shy birds and not always easy to see clearly but, this one seems to use the food put out to keep its youngsters full.

I always feel sorry for them all when it rains, a lot! They look miserable.

I mean, look at this Jackdaw, does it look fed up or what?

Does this wee Tree Sparrow look like it's all hunched up? Looks like a wee owl :)

April was a busy month in the garden, lots feeding up for mating season, some already started,  some raising young already! Looking forward to the youngsters visiting.
