The Great Tit is our largest of the Tit family in this country, many people struggle to tell them all apart, I did until I got used to their size and colours. Coal and great Tits have very similar face markings but Coal Tits are quite a bit smaller.
They tend to be our shyest Tit on the patch but not at the feeders.
There are several pairs that come to my feeding post but the male and female look absolutely the same although I have seen ways to tell which is which.
The young ones tend to look a little duller, showing the same general colouration but looking faded.
I have also seen variations in the brightness among adults.
