Now and again we get special visitors on the patch and quite often in the garden, the Brambling is one of those visitors. As I scour back through my photos, it looks like 2024 was the first time I saw a Brambling in the garden which was quite an event :)
As you can see, it had snowed and I imagined that's what brought the bird to our feeders. I got lucky a few times, I had set up an old branch near the feeders so any bird perching on it would be easy for me and the camera.
Males and females are different, those above are all males. They have now become a Winter regular and I kind of expect them each year now.
There were three in the garden in April of this year, I only managed a few shots on the ground for the record but I have also now seen them out in the wider patch.
