Now, Goldfinches are plentiful around the patch and a lot of them visit the garden all year round so I have plenty of photographs of them. They are also possibly the first bird I saw and wondered what it was, way back in the '70's when I saw a small flock take off from a bush and caught their bright yellow wing flashes. They are possibly our most colourful bird?
They are also beautiful singers, if you stop and listen, it's quite a quiet song but almost Canary-like.
Another bird I get to see in the pouring rain.
When I have the branch set up outside, some birds get really close. When the time is right, they can arrive in quite big flocks and take over.
I see Goldfinches all year round out on the patch and in the garden and they are another bird I've taken to black and white images of.
But, it is definitely their colouring that makes them one of the prettiest birds we have.
Being so close to all these birds, I often get opportunities I might not out in the wild.
