Chaffinches have to be one of our most common birds in the UK, they certainly used to be. I can remember stopping for a break in a car park near Loch Lomond and the picnic tables were awash with Chaffinches.
We have no shortage of them on the patch, they live and nest in the hedge to the side of the house, as well as out on the wider patch

I'd say we get Chaffinches in the garden every day and it won't be long now until the young appear so I have plenty of photos of them. Having said that, I probably don't take as many shots of them because they are so commonplace.
As you can see above, the male and female look different so are easy to tell apart.
