Someone once told me there was a parrot in their garden ... it was a male Bullfinch. I'd hazard a guess that we have Bullfinches all year round on this patch, they're just not always easy to see.
I see them on my walks elsewhere almost all the time but find them almost secretive on the patch, they're probably like that everywhere too.
I do remember a male visiting the garden in 2024!
He didn't stay long and i don't remember any coming back since! I tend to see them in small flocks, often just males together, the females are more elusive, not as brightly coloured so often not as easy to spot.
The females are much more shy and tend to be harder to spot.
I often see male Bullfinches and search out the females, purely because they are harder to find and see but, most shots I get are of the males.
The last of these are from January this year, I've not seen them very often since, especially enough to photograph them, must try harder :)
